Greece, Crete tour… country with the best food. Period. I had luck to enjoy their cuisine for two weeks. Better than food are landscapes and the beaches. See why.
I stayed in Malia, Crete island. But in two weeks I visited the whole island, and had only one conclusion. Magical island. Malia is a coastal town, one of the most touristic towns in Crete.
I will start with the place that got my attention for life. Elafonissi. I enjoyed swimming, sea was so blue it was unrealistic. Elafonissi Beach is an area of spectacular beauty, This is a truly stunning beach, wonderful for children as the water shelves very gently.
And it sure is beautiful, rightly famous for the shimmering pink sand and crystal clear turquoise water is absolutely magical, and will definitely make your vacation even more special.
While not swimming, I couldn’t stop admiring the nature and capturing it. Spectacular beach and it is obvious why.
My next stop was also one natural diamond, inside rugged and wild side of Crete on the off-road adventure.
Because of its geological composition and the centuries of seismic activity, the island of Crete is estimated to have around 3,500 caves. The Cave of Zeus (also known as Psychro Cave or Diktaean Cave) is the most visited on the island because of the myth that says it is the birthplace of Zeus. It is not easiest cave to access. Travelling high up into the Dikti mountain range, trough villages with so many pots in front of their houses. It was so hard to find a cave. Prepare yourself for slippery stones, climbing and walking a lot. But it was worth it, see cave covered with stalactites and stalagmites, and great lightening, just gorgeous!
And finally, I wanted to see Agios Nikolaos, a beautiful seaside town, popular among tourists for its beaches and the mild climate all year long. It’s warm, and there’s plenty of sunshine. It centers on Lake Voulismeni, a small, circular lake ringed by steep rocky cliffs to one side and open-air cafés and seafood restaurants to the other.
Crete is worth visiting, just driving around you can see beautiful sights and minimalistic architecture.
