While visiting Poland, as a sea lover, I chose Tricity, or Tri-City, Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot. Wondering why?
It is a metropolitan area in Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland, consisting of three cities: Gdańsk, Gdynia, and Sopot. They are situated adjacent to one another, in a row on the coast of Gdańsk Bay, Baltic Sea. I liked Gdańsk the most. Why?
Gdańsk’s history is complex, with periods of Polish, Prussian and German rule, and periods of autonomy as a free city-state. It is so colorful that is looks unrealistic. So neat. Street musicians are playing only one song- “La vie en rose” (Louis Armstrong). I literally had a feeling I am in a movie.
After getting to know Gdańsk a bit better, I wanted to see smallest city in Poland. Sopot, seaside resort city, is a major health-spa and tourist resort destination. It has the longest wooden pier in Europe, at 515.5 metres, stretching out into the Bay of Gdańsk. I wanted to see it.
Worth seeing it, because it is not something you will be able to see everyday.
And in the end, Gydnia. Gdynia for centuries remained a small fishing village, cute place, but a major seaport city of Poland. I spent most time there, since my hotel was located there.
